Volunteer with Handlelife Academy

Handlelife Academy is built on the belief that real development takes a full community behind it. We are always looking for dedicated, passionate individuals who want to contribute to the growth of our athletes in a meaningful and structured way.

If you have a skill, a background, or a genuine passion for youth development and you want to put it to work, there may be a place for you here. We do not take volunteers casually. Everyone who steps into our program in any capacity is expected to show up with the same intention, seriousness, and commitment that we ask of our athletes every single day.

Who We Are Looking For

Volunteers at Handlelife Academy come from all kinds of backgrounds. Whether your skills are on the court, in the classroom, on a track, or in a weight room, there is a real way to contribute to what we are building here. What we care about most is that you show up consistently, know your area well, and genuinely want to see young athletes grow.

Volunteer Opportunities

Coach Assistant

If you have a basketball background and want to be directly involved in player development, we are looking for assistant coaches who can support our coaching staff during practices and training sessions. This is a hands-on role. You will be on the floor, working with athletes, running drills, and contributing to the structure of each session. This is not a spectator role. We are looking for individuals who can add real value to the coaching environment and who hold athletes to the high standard that Handlelife Academy is known for.

Team Management

A competitive youth basketball program does not run itself, and the organization that happens behind the scenes is just as important as what happens on the court. If you are someone who enjoys keeping things on track and running smoothly, we would love your help with scheduling, roster management, family communications, tournament logistics, and general program coordination. This position ensures our coaching staff can concentrate entirely on athlete development.

Fundraising

Fundraising is one of the key ways we keep our programs available to every athlete who needs them. We are looking for volunteers to help plan, organize, and carry out initiatives that support both our athletes and the day-to-day work of the Handlelife Legacy Foundation. Event planning, community outreach, sponsorship coordination, or general fundraising experience all have a place here.

Nutrition Education

The work athletes put in on the court means more when they know how to fuel their bodies properly, and we want to build that understanding early. We are looking for qualified individuals with experience in sports nutrition, dietetics, or a related area to help educate our athletes on performance fueling. Workshops, one-on-one guidance, and resources for families are all options. If this sounds like you, reach out.

Academic Support

The Handlelife Legacy Foundation is committed to developing student-athletes, and academic success is a core part of that mission. We are looking for volunteers who can support athletes during tutoring sessions, help with homework, and encourage a culture of academic accountability alongside athletic development. Experience working with youth in an educational or mentorship setting is preferred.

Supplemental Athletic Training

Real athletic development reaches beyond the game itself. We are looking for qualified volunteers to run structured supplemental sessions in areas that have a direct impact on how athletes perform on the court. This includes but is not limited to:

If you are a certified trainer, coach, or athlete with expertise in any of these areas and you want to contribute to a serious youth development program, this is a role where you can make a real impact. Sessions would be meticulously organized, each with a defined objective, and synchronized with the Handlelife Academy's timetable.

What We Expect from Volunteers

Volunteers at Handlelife Academy are held to the same standard as our athletes and coaching staff. When you are part of this program in any capacity, you are representing the young athletes we develop and the mission we stand behind. That representation carries real expectations.

For those volunteering in roles that involve direct contact with our athletes, a background check will be required.

Who This Is Not For

Volunteering here is not something you can do halfway. We are not looking for people who want to show up occasionally or who see volunteer work as a passive way to stay connected to basketball. The athletes in this program deserve consistency, and that is the standard we hold for everyone who is a part of it. If a consistent and dependable schedule isn't something you can manage right now, this probably isn't the best opportunity for you.

How to Get Involved

If volunteering with Handlelife Academy sounds like something you want to do, get in touch and share a little about yourself, your background, and what you would like to contribute. We will reach out to learn more and figure out if there is a good match. Every person who gives their time to our athletes means something to us. This program is built one person at a time, and the people behind it matter just as much as the ones on the court.
